The International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (IYMF), in collaboration with MUS-E Belgium—a member of the MUS-E network founded by the IYMF—launched a children’s and youth choir as part of its mission to promote social inclusion through the arts. The choir was led by Venezuelan choirmaster Paul Sojo, with musical accompaniment by Ukrainian pianist Dmytro Sukhovienko and choreography by Brazilian artist Milton Paulo.

The participating children came from two OKAN classes (education for newly arrived, non-native-speaking students) at Sint-Guido School in Anderlecht, Brussels. From January to June 2023, they took part in weekly singing and movement workshops designed to foster expression, integration, and cultural exchange.

To celebrate the end of this vibrant six-month journey, the IYMF organized a final concert on June 22, 2023, at 7:00 PM in the Royal Protestant Chapel of Brussels—a prestigious venue chosen to honour the young performers. The event, titled “Choir for Ukraine,” gathered around sixty attendees, including the students’ families, their teachers, sponsors, and distinguished guests such as Her Excellency Rita Adam, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the European Union.

This concert was the joyful culmination of a project that brought together nearly 30 students each week in a shared experience of music, dance, and intercultural connection.
