As a fervent advocate of Europe, Yehudi Menuhin always pleaded for the respect of unity and diversity. For him art was a weapon of peace per excellence.

“Only the practice of art, of our senses and of the diversity of cultures in Europe is capable of bringing forth true respect for the others and the desire for peace (…) Only Art can structure the personalities of young citizens opening-up their mind, fostering respect of others, and desire for peace. It is indeed culture that allows each person to draw from the past and to create the future. Culture alone, by unifying diversity, will offer us a true European conscience, for it is indeed the blooming of the diversities of cultures that gives Europe its full radiance…”
