Parliamentary Day on Inclusive Education Organized by Fundación Yehudi Menuhin España

On 28 November, the Fundación Yehudi Menuhin España (FYME) organised a parliamentary day on the theme “Educational Challenges of the 21st Century: Inclusive Methodologies through Art” at the Spanish Congress of Deputies. The aim was to share with all the political groups represented in the Spanish Congress the experiences of the 12 autonomous communities in the field of arts education, embodied by the MUS-E programme. The event also sought to present the results of the evaluations carried out and highlight conclusions that could help implement these methodologies in educational spaces with students at risk of exclusion.

Members of the Education Committee of the Congress and of the Yehudi Menuhin Spain Foundation attended the event, including Mr. Enrique Barón Crespo, President of FYME; Mr. Abelardo de la Rosa, Secretary of State for Education; and Mr. Iñigo Méndez de Vigo, former Minister of Education and member of FYME’s Board of Directors. The moderation of this first round table was carried out by Mr. Guillermo Hita, President of the Education Committee.

Two further round tables followed: one presenting the evaluation report and good practices of the MUS-E programme, and the other offering testimonies from representatives of the students who took part in the programme.

The session was followed by a tour of the Cortes led by Mr. Iñigo Méndez de Vigo for all participants.

In the afternoon, the meeting of FYME’s Board of Directors took place at the Ateneo de Madrid.
