The international workshop in Music took place in cooperation with European Networks in the framework of EFMET: European Forum for music education and training. EFMET, a Culture 2000 project, gathered and evaluated different music teaching methodologies and proposes new ways for training music teachers or artists.
 The MUS-E artists, coming from 11 European countries, explored Informal ways to teach music at schools. The MUS-E concept and methodology was examined, while the artists presented their work within the MUS-E framework not only with practical workshops, but also theoretical presentations on the concept of teaching music to children.
The seminar was lead by a) Cristina Brito da Cruz, musician, ethnomusicologist, currently teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Ear training and Pedagogy of Music Education for future musicians and music teachers). Christina was the national MUS-E coordinator of MUS-E® Portugal for many years, where after meeting Lord Menuhin, she initiated the project in Portugal; and b) Thierry Van Roy, music producer, specialising in World music and interested particularly in music from different cultures and traditions and how it can affect our life. Thierry has been a consultant and collaborator of the IYMF since its foundation, participating in the conceptualisation and organisation of many IYMF concerts.

 Aims: - Create a space to be a “source of inspiration” for the musicians of the MUS-E® programme - Exchange of good practices between the musicians, and their dissemination to the MUS-E® network - Create common projects - Make the musical practices of MUS-E® known beyond the network - Explore new paths liable to enrich the practise of MUS-E®: how to approach the culture of the children and facilitate their integration through music? - Promote networking on the field of informal music teaching
