Over several days, they share their skills and explore new ways and techniques of practising the arts with the children. At the same time they attend workshops lead by experts in their field. Each seminar brings together artists from the same art discipline, for example dance or music, and is facilitated by one or more experts, who introduce their artistic approach to the artists. During the seminar each MUS-E® artist presents several workshops, in order to demonstrate his / her work and to share ideas for workshops with the children. All the participants are engaging themselves in the workshops presented. In this way each participant gains personal experience of the method and effect of several workshops. Moreover, discussions between the artists enrich the concepts underlying their work. The artists have the opportunity to talk about difficulties they face in the class and how they deal with them, as well as special experiences or workshops particularly loved by the children. International Music Seminar, EFMET project, Belgium, 2004 - © IYMF The international dimension is one of the most interesting and enriching aspects of the seminars. The participants come usually from about 14 countries in Europe, each one bringing in not only specific traditions (e.g. traditional songs and games) from his/her country, but also a whole atmosphere and culture. The seminars take place usually in English or/and French. It is needless to say however that there has never been a communication difficulty, the art being the common language for all. So far these workshops have allowed fantastic experiences - on music, singing, body and rhythm, dance, music composition. Results of these meetings are available in reports and on DVD. The latest workshop, in October 2005, was more specifically aimed at creating the music score for the MUS-E® Documentary Menuhin’s Dream. The result gives an interesting European image of the MUS-E programme, where music is the common language.
