Highlights from the Artistic & Social Content Working Group
On 20 November 2025, management teams, coordinators, and artists from MUS-E® Italy, Germany, Portugal, and IYMF came together online for an inspiring exchange on how MUS-E® takes shape across Europe. Sparked by Fondazione MUS-E Italia’s internal reflection on the MUS-E® format, the meeting highlighted just how rich and diverse our shared practices truly are.
From Germany’s structured school-year model and Portugal’s whole-school approach to Italy’s various formats, including interdisciplinarity, each country offers its own rhythm, timing, and artistic dynamics, adapting to the needs of every school and class. Yet one thread unites all experiences: a commitment to creativity, artistic quality, and meaningful impact in the classroom.
Training emerged as a key connector across the Network. MUS-E® Members exchanged insights on practices national online meetings and residential training days, and local trainings for artists, as well as trainings for teachers, some officially recognised by Ministries of Education and national bodies, also on emerging topics such AI in the classroom. IYMF also shared its long-standing experience in organising international and local trainings and residencies or artists and teachers, the latest going from Chania to Athens to Budapest.
The discussion emphasised the importance of the CAT model (child–artist–teacher collaboration) and the crucial role of local and regional coordinators. Participants also reflected on the challenges teachers face and how MUS-E® can help reduce their workload.
The meeting inspired several themes for future joint reflection and more trainings and exchanges are already being planned for 2026!
