MUS-E is coming to Athens

This October, the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation is thrilled to announce the launch of the MUS-E programme in two primary schools located in the heart of Ilioupoli, a diverse and multicultural neighborhood of Athens.

Yesterday, the launch of the MUS-E programme in Athens took place. The  visit and working meeting counted with the presence of Marianne Poncelet, co-founder of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, and it brought together educators, artists, and local partners to celebrate the power of art in education.

Two primary schools of Ilioupoli — serving a student body that includes many children from migrant backgrounds — will open their doors to the MUS-E approach, which promotes inclusion, creativity, and social cohesion through artistic practice in the classroom.

Two talented artists will guide the children on this journey:

  • Leonidas Papadopoulos, a sculptor known for his work with form and materials that invite touch, imagination, and interaction.
  • Pablo Haroni, a dedicated music teacher whose passion for rhythm and sound helps children explore self-expression and teamwork through music.

These artists will work closely with students and teachers in both schools, fostering a safe and inspiring environment where children can grow emotionally and artistically, develop empathy, and celebrate their unique cultural backgrounds.

This project is being carried out in collaboration with the Museum of Greek Child Art, further strengthening the educational and cultural value of the initiative.

With this new chapter in Athens, we continue to grow the MUS-E family across Europe — bringing hope, creativity, and connection to the classrooms that need it most.
